For a typical medium-sized room, we'd generally use most or all of the 8 fibre reeds supplied with an Epsilon diffuser.
For a small bathroom, toilet or other compact space, start with fewer. It's much easier to add another clean reed if you'd like more fragrance than to remove a saturated, oily reed later.
This room-dependent approach is also why recommendations differ so much between diffuser brands rather than there being one universally correct reed count.
